MP backs biodiesel tax break project

Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a project to keep tax breaks for business who produce biodiesel.

Producers transforming cooking oil into biodiesel currently gain from a 20p however that is due to end next April.

The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been meeting the UK sustainable biodiesel alliance.

Mr George stated "a number of little businesses in Cornwall presently generate income from used cooking oil".

He included: "In order to be able to get this type of market going it does need simply a little bit of lift which is available in the type of tax inevitable."

Biodiesel is a mix of traditional diesel, rapeseed and vegetable oils.
